DIY Summer Cleaning HACKS!
Nobody, and I mean NOBODY wants to live in a filthy house. Not only is it extremely uncomfortable to live in, but it is super bad for your health. Not to mention that the collection of debris and dirt could even destroy your home over time. Looking for a sign to start cleaning your home? THIS IS IT! We’ve got some excellent hacks for you to make summer cleaning easier. Don’t freak out just yet, we’ve got this under control!
Cleaning hack # 1: Clean with bicarbonate soda
If you want to deodorize and clean your home in the summer, baking soda will do that for you. Use a mixture of water, salt and bicarbonate soda in a ratio of 1:1:1. This will leave wooden and plastic utensils cleaner than before. You can also sprinkle a couple of tablespoons of baking soda into your dishwashing liquid to remove any stubborn grease and grime.
Cleaning hack # 2: Use lemons to freshen up your garbage disposal
With all the junk we throw into our garbage disposals, it’s no wonder they smell so nasty. Thankfully, you can get rid of this smell and make them a whole lot cleaner by dropping in some cut lemons down your drain and turning the disposal on.
Cleaning hack # 3: Timed tidying
Make summer cleaning more efficient and fun by timing it. Get your family to speed clean with a 5-minute pick-up activity. In 5-mins you can straighten up the porch and patio, put toys, bikes and shoes away. By doing so, you will be amazed with the results, especially when cleaning is done in such a short time.
Cleaning hack # 4: Use the dishwasher to clean toys
Kids toys can be super dirty so they need to clean them up as well. Hand-washing them never seems to be the solution, since the process can be tedious sometimes. Simply wash plastic toys using the dishwasher to make cleaning them easier. Do not forget to remove the batteries though.
Cleaning hack # 5: Vacuum clean your mattress
Deodorize your mattress by sprinkling some baking soda all over and then vacuum clean it. This will leave your mattress smelling great!
Cleaning hack # 6: Remove mildew spots with vodka.
If you have mildew in your bathroom or anywhere else, vodka is your best friend. Fill a spray bottle with a half and half mix of vodka and water, spray it on the affected areas, leaving it for around 10 minutes. Afterward, you can wipe it away with a clean cloth.
